So what are my chances?

Howdy.

I'm a freshman at CUNY Hunter in New York City. My grades are decent thus far: 100 in Precalcus, 95 in Intro to Political Theory, 90 in Intro to Economics, and... 80 in Bio (screwed up on that one, considering the CR/NC option). Next semester I'm taking English, another political course, a philosophy course, and calculus. In other words, courses in which I know I'll do well. I'm joining the school paper, the literary review, the political science association, looking for a pre-law-related internship, and a part-time job.

My SAT was a 2100 (Reading 770, Writing 720, Math 610). I'll probably retake it this spring.

Cumulative average for my first two years of high school was a 99, but then it went to ***** (personal problems) and I'm really looking to get my act back together. So I'm hoping to apply for a transfer to Cornell, likely in spring of my sophomore year when I've got a better record to show for it.

Anyone care to shed some light on my chances?

CUNY Honors or CUNY normal?

As a side note, you’re taking precal for the first time as a college student?

What school in Cornell are you planning on applying to?

Regular CUNY, yes, and Arts and Sciences.

Based on your classes and prelaw as well as poli sci interest, I think ILR would be a better match for you.

I’ll look into it, thanks. Anyone else, comments? I’m looking for hints at what I need to work on, I guess.

i think you want that college gpa in the 3.7 range
