So what do colleges think is a good AP score?

When you decide to report or not report your AP scores, what factors should you consider? LIke, if it’s just 4’s and 5’s is that good? Or is a 4 a bad score?

As far as I know, they use the scores just to validate that the grades you took in the class are not due to grade inflation. Example: If you get a 1 or a 2 on an AP test for a class you got an A in, they’ll suspect grade inflation.

I was told that they are important in that sense, and if you had no AP tests available to you, but you self-studied them, then that’s also good. Other than that, they aren’t actual scores they consider seriously in the admissions process because they are self-reported, which means there is no official score sheet they can use to confirm your scores.

Most colleges will accept a 4 or 5 for credit for a class, but certain courses they will accept a 3. So 4s and 5s are very good.
As far as admissions, I am not sure if they really use that so much.

Either a 5 or a 4 are solid scores. AP score distributions vary widely. For some subjects only a very small percentage of students get a 5, in other cases it’s more common. You don’t need to pay to send scores officially until you actually decide where you are going to college. For top colleges, a 3 or a 2 score sticks out
