You can usually get C's and be all right, but I wouldn't get straight Cs if I were you. Two Cs and two Bs should be no issue, but if you push it too much, they might make you write a short explanation as to why your grades dropped. For them to rescind it, you usually need to get one or more D or Fs. You playing LAX at Duke? This year should be the year they win the national championship....hopefully; so close last year...

i ended with 1 c and 3 b's and no problems. though as a result of a problem i since sorted out i was in danger of getting a d, that was subsequently bumped up.

from what i've heard, even with 1 d you don't usually get rescinded. duke may send you a letter informing you that they don't like the fact that your grades have dropped and to be careful but rescinding is rare.

According to Duke admissions, C+s are acceptable. You don't need to maintain the 3.8 by any means. That said, a high GPA might help you win some scholarships if you're interested in applying for any. Also, if you slack off for the rest of the year, you're going to get a bit of a shock when you get to your first semester at Duke. Don't make it too hard for yourself to adjust to the intense work you'll have to do here. So just be careful with the senioritis.
