I'm not supporting socialism, so don't attack me please haha. I'm just asking you what are the problems with it.

no one would attack u for supporting socialism, because socialism is actually a good thing, in theory. it just doesn’t work, in practice. see:Animal Farm.

Exactly. Communism is the perfect form of government in theory. But unfortunately it has never been executed properly and it probably won’t be for hundreds of years.

Only thing wrong with socialism is that it doesn’t work in real life, and also because it is alluring and seems to work, causing people to believe in it, thus causing catastrophes (Soviet Union).

Every country has socialism to some degree, and some things just need to be that way. What if the government didn’t pay for your education, the post office, or the police, etc. Some countries socialism works nicely (Sweden I hear?), but most of the time it just doesn’t work.

A problem is, with more and more things socialized, the more the government has to tax your butt off.

Also, you get payed the same as your co workers. For example, you can pick 10 apples and another person picks 2. You get payed the same. Basically, scum = most successful people. Call me cynical, but I think that’s wrong.

I don’t like the idea of socialism, but again, I do support socialized health care.

Maybe, but I’ve always thought the perfect form of government would be capitalism with no bad people.

In a perfect socialist world, “money” (or at least it’s value) would not exist. That’s partly why it’s so appealing.

It’s just that fighting communists in so many different wars has made the older generations a little apprehensive.

The first response covers it.

Socialism is a great idea but it ignores human nature.

wait- so is pure capitalism when someone works hard to gain financial success? cause i know they always say the problem with capitalism is that people at the top take advantage of their workers by underpaying them, etc.

Well I think the problem is that it can’t be executed properly in the real world.

First of all, capitalism is an economic system (as is socialism). Communism is a combination of economic and political theory.

The problem is that even without bad people there will still be folks who end up with more money than others. That’s not a perfect world.

Yeah. Communists fight a war against terrorists, we support the terrorists. Communists fight a war against a dictator, we support the dictator. If communists declared war on an apple, we would have supported the apple.

Communism doesn’t work in real life, but a mix of socialism and capitalism is currently enjoyed in every first-world nation. It takes a careful balance, though.

nothing at all
Look at Sweden. it has socialized 15%(ish) of their economy, plus education, healthcare, and the like.
It has awesome qualitity of life and is a kick butt country

It’s much better than crappy capitalism

Sweden is a tiny country and not a superpower.
It has long established its industry.

So… since no one responded to my last question… ill ask it again. What is PURE capitalism?

being a superpower is overrated…
i plan on being an ex pat as soon as possible

and pure capitalism is where there is no regulation of business…the weak get weaker, the strong get stronger…
it let’s industry have all the power, and government have none

Pure, or nearly pure socialism works in small society, but not a large one.

I wouldn’t want to live in a country which is as socialist as some European countries. Maybe I’d feel differently if I weer a “have-not,” but I don’t like it.

This is pretty much random and out of nowhere and has nothing to do with the person who said it, but I hate the word ex-pat. It has privilege written all over it. Only well-off Westerners (and even then, only Westerners from the “right” countries) are ever expatriates. Others are immigrants. I know there is actually a small difference in denotation, but it’s mostly about connotation. Expat is glamorous. Immigrant isn’t.

socialism works which is why every first-world country (even the US) uses it to some degree.

totalitarianism does not work, whether it’s left-wing communism or right-wing fascism.

= Anarchy

Ironically, pure socialism also requires no government.
