MusicMom758- (I like your name!)-
It's been a long day for me so I'm having difficulty with your question.....
Was I involved with MY high school music program, as in 30+ years ago?
Or, was our son, now a college freshman, involved with music at his school?
Sorry to be dense....
My husband and son are the musicians in this family. Music has been our son's sole focus since age 8, through region and allstate bands, Governor's school, etc.
Both classical and jazz. He is a very happy performance major right now; he may add an education piece to it though.

Congratulations on your son's ED acceptance to Columbia. Wonderful that you all can enjoy his senior year and look forward to such a great college experience as well.

Thank you so much! I had meant if you were involved in a booster organization at your son's school. I am president of our Moms and Dads for Music program here in Bethpage. Probably will stay on even after my son graduates from high school. As for me I'm tone deaf. Speaking is my forte after graduating with a Masters in Speech Communication, however it does help with my monthly music meetings!
All the best to you and yours!

MusicMom758-
Now I get it! No, must admit I was not much involved in the booster club at son's school.....I attended meetings and brought the cookies for the post show spreads but never was in an 'executive' role.

Like you, I'm not a musician. I played flute (badly) for a few years....luckily, I am better at microbiology!
Nice meeting you!

momofonly - Thanks for that list. I was able to count the number of members with "mom" in the username :) At times I have wondered if this shouldn't be named, Mom's Forum :) (fifteen!)

I'd change my screen name to something less obnoxious but everyone knows me as TD. You see, I just came up with something quick-and-dirty because I was going to be here for only a few posts and....

Wallingf....you are so far the closest one to me on here....I live in VT. My D will be spending four weeks of her school break at Waterville Valley in NH with her ski team.

Grew up in Minnesota, graduated from UW-Madison and couldn't leave the state.

I confess that I've been lurking for a few months. I thought I was finished with the search for a few years until my son who accepted early admission last June decided he still wants to take a shot at his first choice conservatory/college. If you were one who helped me last summer, our school board voted to accept his freshman studies classes in place of the missing graduation requirements. My son is dual enrolled and will graduate with his class. He's happy with nearly everything, but feels his long term goals would be better served in a more competitive environment.

Cyprus here. Have lived in Texas, Nevada (wonderful wide open spaces), and was born in Berkeley and grew up in Northern California Bay Area and went to school in Southern California. Best town in the country: Peterborough, New Hampshire! My son would say Dublin, NH and Appleton, Wisconsin. I post infrequently and read daily!
