Me…got a measly 1,700 in grants…EFC was 38K…looking like I’ll have to pick from one of the 5 safeties I got full rides to, or Cornell if I get in.

0 aid from rice. 31k aid from vandy. waiting on ivies

0 aid from Rice. Full tuition from UPitt. Waiting on Ivies but if they don’t give me anything either I’m gonna be going to Pitt. It’s a shame too cause I’d love to go to Rice it’s just the finances =/

Pyn; if you got 19k need-based aid from Vandy, and nothing from Rice - something went very, very wrong. Have you called Rice and asked them about the discrepancy? Maybe something got entered wrong at their end of things…

yeah pyn if you prefer rice over vandy you can definitely negotiate with them…be like “i would really like to go to rice but unfortunately because of my finances i cannot afford to, and i got a much better offer from vandy, etc.” and from what ive heard they will usually make a similar finaid offer(since theyre peer schools).

i love everything i have heard about rice, but im pretty sure i will have to turn them down. they actually gave me everything i could have asked for: trustee + great financial aid + everything waived = no cost at all. but quite unfortunately, none of the flights to rice during any of the admit days worked out for me and i can’t decide on a school that i haven’t visited, so that’s that. i will probably be attending caltech as it is. good luck to everyone going to rice and everyone waiting to get off the waitlist!

I probably won’t attend, b/c they gave me the least amout of FA

Four schools I have applied to have given me 20,000+

Except for Rice, which gave me nothing. sigh

^^ lol it seems like rice is giving aid to no one.

rice isn’t in my top 10 choices so i wouldnt really want to bother them. i’ll wait for duke’s financial aid as well as the ivies~

Rice gave me everything I wanted: full-tuition scholarship. However, today I was accepted to Johns Hopkins BME which has been my first-choice for so long time…It’s so sad that I have to turn Rice down…

no fa from rice at all, presidential scholarship from american. accepted to duke, waiting on 4 more…

rice isnt looking too hot right now for me.

I won’t be going there, unless my aid package gets changed.

My EFC on Fafsa and EFC for every other school has come out to be 15k/year, while Rice’s EFC is 34k. So confused…

Ohcollege1102 - please call or email Rice FA office and ask about the discrepancy! Unless you have HUGE assets that don’t show up on the FAFSA, and all your other schools were FAFSA only schools, and/or you have a non-custodial divorced parent who makes lots of money and your other schools were FAFSA-only schools, there shouldn’t be a big difference in amounts. Hope they can work it out for you! :)

Well I got accepted to Yale and Stanford today so I won’t be attending Rice. gl to the waitlisted!

my hopes are slowly being restored.
lol

good luck!
