Im appealing and Im appealing Davis...my status on my UCSB account hasn't changed back to pending yet?? do you think I should call to find out if they have received my appeal or not?

when did you send it in,wasupieboy? well, i think you should call now since its already pass the due date just to make sure they've received it.

And this year the admissions rate was 49% and UCSB!

bionicbunnie...well my school mailed it in for me becasue i sent an official transcript in it....i called today and they said they havent gotten it yet, but that the mail just arrived, so they told me to call back on monday.....o im so worried right now...UCSB has been my fav school since i first visited back in soph year

wassupie what were your grades like

So...anybody heard back yet.....

decision still pending

anyone know when ucsb will be releasing appeal descisons?

First week of May

cliffdive it all depends on how you define selectivity. Remember that UCSB is smaller than some of the other UC's so they take fewer students. Additionally you must look at the quality of the applicant pool. While UCSB had lots of applicants the GPA's of admitted students were the same as the GPA's of accepted students at UC Davis and UCI. Additionally the UCD students took more A-G courses (adademic rigor) overall and had higher SAT scores.

Same question as rejectedd89! I'm also waiting on Irvine and Davis!!

hey makin it rain, I'm appealing to all those schools too!!!
did you also experience total UC rejection?

YES! Haha hey, I think I talked to you before? Anyway, I was rejected at every UC other than Merced (pfft) and San Jose State.

No...I don't think we've spoken before, but YES! I too was rejected from all of them (expect merced and riverside)! And I'm like shocked b/c I'm not a bad student!
And I never thought in a million years that I'd be going to community college. :(

Oh gosh, I totally know how you feel. I always thought I would make it to AT LEAST Irvine, and have UCSC as my backup, but I didn't even make it into UCSC! All my chance threads said UCSD = slight reach, Irvine/Davis/SB = match, and UCSC = safety. :(

Yeah. Ok, so Davis, Santa Barbara and Irvine were like my 3 top schools, and I thought I'd get into at least 1 of them. I actually didn't apply to UCSC b/c I was being snobbish.
And now I hate having to tell people that I'm going to a cc because then they assume that I must be kinda dumb if I got rejected from everywhere. It is so frustrating.

Anyways, so are you going to cc next year??

its kind of lame that you guys are ashamed of going to a community college for the fear of other people thinking youre "dumb". i am a transfer student and i have to say that the best decision ive ever made was going to a community college. i only applied to 2 schools my senior year in hs and that was UCI and UCSD. i got into uci but didnt accept. anyways, going to a cc college saved my parents and i atleast 20k if not more. ive grown and matured and feel more prepared to go to a UC school. your education isnt any less. your diploma will not say that you went to a cc and then to a university. instead it gives you the opportunity to graduate from a better school, Cal and UCLA perhaps? (its a lot easier to transfer to a good school) and the same GE education you would at a university if not better because you get to interact with your teachers more and have smaller classes. and this for only around 2K a semester hmm....

actually its 500 bucks a semester... my bad

Lol I am seriously not complaining about CC. It's a good investment, I'm not going to lie, and I have a lot of friends joining me. I'm actually kind of looking forward to it so I won't feel bad if my appeals didn't go through :) In fact, I was actually considering choosing CC anyway, even if my appeal went through. The amount of money I would save is RIDICULOUS. !!

I mean, I realize that ultimately cc can be better (save money, go to a better school, etc.), but it's just kind of hard because all of my friends are going away to exciting places, and I'm still stuck at home.
But, yeah bsally I see what you're saying. I guess I just need to get over this lol.
