So why didn't you apply to Oxford when you applied to Emory?

Because the average Oxford student can’t get accepted to Emory but will end up graduating with an Emory diploma

^They can get their Emory diploma, but their <average> GPAs probably won’t be as high as those from CAS, so they do pay a price. An Emory diploma with 3.2 GPA is not the same as one with 3.8 GPA.</average>

We should let this thread die, its ■■■■■■■■.

Nobody cares what your diploma says! You can keep telling yourself that to make yourself feel better (or worse depending on your perspective), but you’re deluding yourself. No grad school or employer in the history of college has ever asked someone to present their diploma. All grad schools care about is your transcript and employers will only ask for a transcript if anything so stop whining. Oxford graduates aren’t getting away with anything. They’re either sending transcripts with Oxford classes to grad schools or writing Oxford on their resumes. If not then they’re being disingenuous. But if you really think that unfairly tarnishes Emory’s rank, just say you went somewhere else. You can say almost anything you want on your resume, the only thing a company cares about at the end of the day is that you do your job well.

Conclusion…

: Oxford is a back-door for Emory.

I’m from far away and Oxford wasn’t a good match for me so far as size, location, etc. If I wasn’t going to Emory (my top choice) then I probably would have just gone to Ohio State with a bunch of my friends and been pretty near home. It wasn’t really a question of whether Oxford was inferior, it just wasn’t a good match for me and not worth the money for flights home and being away from my friends and family. Emory was.
