So... now what? The letter told us we can submit additional information, my question is, how? The Commonapp is untouchable, so are we expected to mail everything to them?

Any advice from a past deferree would be great!

It’s probably best to look over your application to see if there are any weak spots and try not to make the same mistakes for RD in other schools?

Like if you had a risky essay or your essay didn’t show enough passion or you emphasized your weaknesses or something lol

I would suggest you DO send in extra materials.
Do not be pestering (i.e. sending every single thing you’ve done in the past two years)

But DO:
Send another EXTREMELY STRONG letter of recommendation
Send another WELL WRITTEN ESSAY THAT DEMONSTRATES YOUR PASSION (research all the available opportunities at Cornell – clubs, research, courses, professors – and integrate this into your essay)
Send an updated list of your CURRENT REMARKABLE GRADES/ANY NEW AWARDS/HONORS/POSITIONS/ECs
And if your SAT/ACT/SATIIs weren’t up to par, Send your UPDATED SCORES.

What if I already sent in 4 letters of recommendation and I’m absolutely satisfied with my scores? I feel like another essay would just add to the mountain of stuff the admissions committee already has to read…

But then, I feel like if I do nothing, I’m acting as if I don’t care.

I did some research and most sites recommend sending supplemental material in before the end of January, does this “deadline” also apply to Cornell?

The January first deadline is just a generic deadline for people to submit their common apps.

You can send in new scores, essays, and reference letters after that deadline (but of course you should do it asap).
Also, the reference letters will only be external references since the ones on common app are set.

i was deferred from hotel too. Ive unoffically heard that cornell hotel accepts roughly 50% of ED deferrals, any comment. Im sending an extra rec and updates satII score.
