Would love to hear from members of the Amherst soccer team. How much of a time commitment is expected from players? Does the team practice throughout the year? How many players are recruited and how many are walk ons?

My roommate last year is on the soccer team, so I should be able to answer these questions. In season, they practice 5 times a week from 4-6, usually with games on Saturdays, and occasionally games during the week. In the winter and spring, they work out (some scheduled and some captain's practices) and play in an indoor league. The time commitment is significant but not overwhelming, with plenty of time left for academics, socializing, and extracurriculars. In terms of recruiting, there are usually about 5-6 recruits for each class, and they do take walk-ons, I know of at least 2 from my year who walked on. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much, Lemonjello. My son has been in touch with the athletic department and will probably meet with the coach when we visit in the spring.
