Soccer at U of C

My son wants to attend an academically challenging school with a strong Division III soccer program. Does anyone have information about the Chicago Men's Soccer team which is nationally-ranked? How do athletes and non-athletes mix? Most of my son's friends have non-sports interests.

I do not know much about soccer, but I can assure you there is no great divide between athlete and non-athlete. All take the same courses, and there are no athlete dorms. Some athletes join the same fraternity, but far from all. There are of course natural friendships the occur as a result of "battling" together, but this is also true of the academic battle one encounters at Chicago.

athletes and non-athletes mix pretty well. a few soccer players lived in my house, and they mixed in well with everyone while still remaining a tight group with their teammates. although many soccer players here voice their frustration with the team itself, and said that other dIII schools would ahve been a better fit for them (ex. WashU) because their teams are better and other schools have a student body whose personalities matches up a little better with athletes.

I think if you're coming here to play soccer, you're a student first and an athlete second.

it seems a lot of students at U of C like to kvetch. I saw it on my prospie visit. Seems to intrinsically be part of the school.
