what does the social scene entail at BMC? i heard that BMC girls can sometimes be sort of antisocial?..

Depends on your scene. I think there is someone for almost everyone here, unless big raves are your thing.

Kathleen1991: you are everywhere!

I pretty much agree with froghorn- althouuugh if you are into bigger parties with drinking, then you may have to take a ride on the blue bus or swat van (both free)- or even the R5 or R100 into Philly (Temple, UPenn parties are good). Bryn Mawr has some good bigger parties, but they are not every weekend. Smaller get togethers are more common, along with socials for sports teams.

If partying is not your cup of tea, then definitely join a club or sport or something- it's way easier to meet people that way. Although I do know people that stay in their room and work all the time, I am never lonely and there's always someone around that wants to go out and do something or just sit around and talk.

I know that college is gonna be crazy hard, but what's the ratio of study time to play time at Bryn Mawr? Is it really lopsided or is it dealable?

It depends a lot on the classes you are taking and your study habits. I study/work for about 1-2 hours for every hour I spend in class and do pretty well, but other students will tell you that they need to study all the time just to earn a passing grade.

Yeah, I know people who manage their time well and work at a dining hall, socialize a ton, and still do really well in their classes. And others study constantly and through the weekend.

It's really important to balance your schedule, if possible. If you're not a pre-med/bio major, then try not to do more than one lab science in a semester. And in the other direction, it's not smart to take four writing-heavy classes. Deans help with balancing courseload- or mine did.
