hey guys i'm a senior who's probably going to apply for Duke ED.
I've searched some stuff about Duke, especially its social life (since the academic aspect and prestige is not questionable at all). I found out that Greek life is quite prevalent. one thing I worry is that I'm an Asian because people say Greek life is quite exclusive (I mean I haven't been there so I only know what I heard from other people). I don't want to hang out within all-asian groups. Is it possible to join regular sorority even if I'm asian? Apart from Greek life, what are other possible social scene found at Duke? Are people nice and inclusive?

Bump, I was wondering the same thing!

Yes, the predominantly white sororities accept diverse people of all ethnicities.

I’m not trying to attack you here or anything, but what exactly is wrong with Asian-interest (or as you refer it "all-asian) group?

Greek life is no more exclusive than an a club comprised of entirely one ethnic group.

There are plenty of Asians in sororities, it’s nothing to worry about at all. There is a separate organization for historically African American sororities, so many black students choose to pledge within that organization but Panhel is still open and inviting to all races. There’s also coed SLGs (selective living groups), sports clubs, arts, music, theater, other special interest groups, and the like that form social groups. There are events of all sorts going on on campus all the time. I was not in the Greek system, but had plenty of friends from various chapters as well as other independents. The vast majority of people don’t really care - I still attended probably over 20 sorority events. I found generally Duke students to be chill, nice, and inviting, but you can’t say everybody is the same with a student body of 6,500 undergraduates. You’ll find your niche though. Plenty of stuff to do and people to meet outside the classroom. :)
