Social Life at Lehigh

I'm having a tough time deciding between Lehigh and Lafayette. I'm not the biggest drinker in the world, but I like to have fun. If I don't pledge to a frat is it difficult to have a social life? Or do you have to be a heavy drinker to have a social life?

I spent a lot of time there - my best friend from high school went to Lafayette - and the student bodies are very similar. Obviously there will be more of everything at Lehigh on any given weekend - drunks, non-drunks, miserable dorks whining online - because it is a bigger school, but it would probably be a mistake to base your decision on the drinking issue.

You really can't go wrong with either school so you'd probably be better served by deciding if you want a smaller, more intimate LAC environment or a bigger school because the real social challenges - as opposed to imagined ones - aren't going to be any different.

I think most Lehigh students subscribe to the "work hard, play hard" philosophy. In a competitive school, you have to expect that your studies will be demanding.

Lehigh has a reputation of being a very, very, very Greek oriented campus. But you can look at the numbers here --http://www.lehigh.edu/~indost/greek/F&STrendAnalysis.pdf
There has certainly been a gradual decline in Greek enrollment. I don't think you have to pledge a frat to have a social life.
