How is the social life here? How is it compared to like say Carnegie Mellon or somewhere like Cornell? Any help would be awesome, thx.

My niece went there and had a blast! Graduated with a good GPA, also.

My sophomore son has made tons of friends, lots to do on campus AND Beantown is just a stone's throw away with easy access from Davis Square.

i'm a freshman here and i love the place. boston is really close. downtown is just 3 subway stations away. it's easy to get around and tufts really has a campus feel with tons of things always going on.

i agree with ignited 100%! a bunch of my engineering friends here were considering Carnegie Mellon, and then went and visited and decided they'd NEVER go there b/c it was so dead on campus and no one talked. I find nearly everyone here to be so open and friendly and inclined to making new friendships. I'll head out one night with one group of people, and return to my dorm with a completely new set of friends. It really is about the people, but towards the end of the weekend there'll always be frat parties, or something going on in someone's dorm room - and in the event that you don't feel like walking around from frat to frat, Davis Square is like a ten minute walk and a shuttle runs to it - there's always something to do there, a really nice movie theater, and it has a subway stop that takes you to Harvard Square, downtown, Quincy Market...you never lack for things to do on campus, but some people go visit various friends at Harvard, MIT, BU, Emerson, Northeastern, BC, etc., and check out the parties there. I mean, the other day my friend and I needed to buy black clothes for the University Chorale performance this weekend, so we took a short stroll through the crisp autumn air to Davis Square, took a bus to Cambridge Galeria - this enormous, really nice mall nearby - and bought our things. On the bus back, we made friends with three girls from Harvard. When we left, we realized that if we were at Dartmouth, we'd NEVER be able to just hop on a bus and go to a mall, or run into someone from another college.

Anyway, also, there are always shows on campus, from plays to local bands or DJs, plus Boston will always have some great band or artist playing on any given day - for example, Death Cab for Cutie are playing today :-D But I mean, sometimes it's totally preferable to just hang out in your dorm's lounge with your friends, or watch a movie in someone's room...trust me, you'll never lack things to do around here, I LOVE it
