Social Media Marketing/Branding Schools?

Hi all,
I am currently a freshman in community college and am going to transfer at the end of next school year. I am currently doing my pre major requirements for Business majors because I am planning on going into Business Marketing. I wanted to know which of the schools have the best marketing programs as well as other majors similar to marketing that are applicable to my focus. Also, for schools such as UCLA, how is a Business Econ major with possibly a minor in psychology or communications looked at?

Any advice and input is greatly appreciated!

You posted this in the UCLA forum. Are you asking about UCs in general or UCs and CSUs?

My mistake! I did not mean to post it in the UCLA forum I’m new to the site… But yes I was referring to UC’s and Cal Sates altogether. Thanks!

Discussion moved.

Look for programs with a LOT of quantitative content. Stats, Data Science, Math. All my friends in marketing say everything nowadays is about the data. There a lot of substandard business and marketing programs out there and it’s one of the lowest paying majors because of this. Find a program that will set you up for the future (hint, it looks nothing like Mad Men.)

UCB and UCLA are great but, they reject most applicants so, it could be a waste of time. SDSU and CPSLO are also great but, really tough transfer admits. UCR has a high quality and fairly accessible program. (the only biz program open to TAG) SJSU, Sac, Chico, SF, and Sonoma all offer credible programs and are realistic transfer targets for most students.

it will be easier to guide you once you have a GPA on the books.

post back in a few weeks with your semester grades - that will help you focus on programs that are realistic.

I currently have a 4.0 and am most likely going to be concluding the semester with the same grades unless something goes horribly wrong which it wont.

If you can keep your grades up, you do have a good shot but, with admit rates of 5% at Berk and 11% at LA, its far from a sure thing.

I’d suggest you apply broadly - UCs B, LA, I, TAG UCR so you have a known option. CSULB and SDSU are also very good.

good luck.

Exactly my plan! Definitely going to apply to a broad range of UC’s since the low admit rates never guarantee anything as well as a handful of cal states too. I appreciate the feedback!
