Social Scene, Academics, Students @ UCSB

i don’t know anything about computers. and i’ll post my decision on CC so don’t worry
:)

Haha same. When something goes wrong with my comp, I call GeekSquad.

here comes the CreepSquad !!!

haha ditto!

oh gosh you ARE going to be the campus creeper aren’t you?

you really are too much, leakers. haha

Seriously though, what do you do with a computer sciences degree? I’ve never even heard of that. =)

I can say that I came into UCSB with similar misconceptions that “everyone partied”, etc. Though there are people who party, I think it’s not that different from any other college where you can find parties if you want and you can avoid them if you want to as well. There are quite a lot of people who don’t party or rarely party and aren’t that hard to find (i.e. you don’t have to live on the scholars floor or sub-free floor). People take schoolwork pretty seriously and you’ll find a lot of people studying, in the library, etc. through the week.

And fred11, you’ve seriously never heard of a computer science major? It’s one of the highest paying majors in general. A lot of the people you see who work for software companies like Google, Yahoo, Apple, etc. were computer science majors.

thanks so much! that’s great to hear! i love that i’ll be able to actually study during the week and go out during the weekends. i think ucsb will be perfect for me :)

Yup =) I’ve never really been into technology so I haven’t really learned up on the majors. Those are some pretty sweet gigs though.

there are plenty of computer science jobs out there…

Honestly, I’m going to be a Poli Sci student as well and you truly will not have to worry about being engaged. I’m a very outspoken and argumentative student as well as being strong-willed. If you have classes with me, participation and engagement will not be a problem. I do party as well as being serious and demanding in the realm of academics so I would not worry about your classes Silva.
I’m happy to see that you care about the engagement of your classes though and I can’t wait to debate with you.

haha that’s great but i switched my major to biochemistry and i’m going to do pre med  maybe i’ll take some political science classes to round out of application for medical school though.
