Social Scene at Penn?

So...current students.

Does Penn live up to its "Social Ivy" reputation??

It sure does when you set the social bar as low as “Ivy” ;)

Penn is very much a social ivy, but that’s like being the tallest midget.

Actually the social scene is… what you make out of it. If you’re a fan of frat parties and/or you’re part of the greek system, on-campus partying WILL be happening from thursday-saturday. Bars on wednesdays, usually downtows on thursday… You just have to keep up with it and know the right people so you’d know about all the events ;)

There is stuff to do every night if you’re up for it. Nothing as big as Saturday nights though.

There are blocks and blocks of frats (and tons and tons of sluts, tbh), and as a freshman you get little flyers under your door every week for upcoming parties/raves/whatever. There are definitely always things to do. I feel like Saturday is the biggest night, then Thursday, and then Friday. I’ve never partied at a school like Penn State or anything but in comparison with other top schools that I’ve visited with friends, Penn lives up.

Some friends and I are visiting UPenn either Friday or Saturday (we’re from nearby schools) because we heard the parties are amazing and our party scenes are pretty much dead. Can anybody give me information? For example, where is frat row? Which frats are having parties? Do you need to know people to get in? Even if you’re a girl? etc…I’d seriously be eternally grateful…

Hmm…about the social life being low for Ivies. I know Cornell might not be the best example, but there are so many party options from Thursday to Saturday…there is never not anything to do. My friend at Penn also said parties are good there.
