I really want to go to penn and will be applying ED next year- how is the social scene there? (parties, people, GIRLS)

Also, not just at penn, but in the surrounding college town (temple, drexel)

The social scene is freakin huge (compared to other ivies and equal caliber schools). If youre expecting parties on the levels of state schools youll be slightly disappointed, but as far as my experience has been, there is not a single day of the week when there isnt a frat party going on. On the weekend, of course, there are multiple to choose from. And this isnt even mentioning partying in the quad/hill, with your friends (because trust me, it is severely easy to get booze if you try), etc.

Dont go to temple unless you have a bulletproof vest, and drexel from what ive heard is a lot more strict about their stuff so its a little milder than penn, but ive never actually gone to one of their frats, its not like penn ever runs dry, haha

My view of Penn has been very sheltered as I live in the high rises and I didn’t hear about parties until after they have happened. My friends in the Quad have the more stereotypical college experience.

As for the people, gosh I couldn’t stop marveling over how nice everyone here is. People are generous and do not judge if you don’t drink. I for one didn’t really understand the concept of a BYO and brown bagged my own sparkling grape juice but no one looked down upon me for that(but they clarified what BYOs meant).

No matter where you live, as long as you reach out to clubs and organizations and stuff, you will have a life.
In fact, it is overwhelming to me.
Girls: There are some bad girls, and good girls of course. However most try to wear tight skimpy clothes, so you arent missing out on much of anything. Plus, they have brains.
