I am hoping someone could help my daughter… She narrowed down to two choices. Clemson or TCU. We visited Clemson two weeks ago, and she really loved the school (focus on engineering, great nature, academic support system, Greek). After visiting TCU (Fort Worth, TX) last weekend, she expressed her concern about social life and party scene at Clemson, just because there is no entertainment outside of campus. When we were there we saw one street with restaurants and shops, but it looked like that was it. I understand there are frats parties but are there any other forms of partying? She is a cheerleader, and very very social. She studies hard but her social life is very important. We live in Austin TX, and all her needs are met here (study hard, play hard), but she wants to venture out and experience different environment. Clemson is perfect in that regard, but there is no close by entertainment area outside of the campus, and you need to drive 40 minutes to go to Greenville to get away. That is our understanding from the trip. My D and I really like everything about Clemson besides that but she is afraid that she might get socially bored at Clemson. We would like to hear honest feedback on this. This is holding her back from making a decision.
Sorry no one is responding… there do not tend to be a lot of students on this board (too busy!)
I’d suggest that you contact the Clemson cheerleading squad and ask if someone from the team would be willing to talk with her. Keep in mind it is finals week for them.

I have a son at Clemson, freshman, and he has not indicated any lack of things to do, but it’s not city living for sure!
Good luck.
