Hi guys! I am interested in applying to Princeton but have a few questions (about the social scene)
I live in the town of a top-ten-party-school and have been attending frat/apartment parties since my sophomore year of high school. I don't expect the social scene at princeton to be like it is where I live, but I don't want to end up in a social waste land where everyone is uptight and never lets loose. I have one friend (who comes from a similar background) who actually transferred to Duke from Princeton and the social scene was the primary reason. I was wondering if others have had a different experience with the social scene at Princeton.
My friend who attended also observed a lot of elitism and "cliquish" behavior on campus. Is this an issue?

I replied privately.

I think it is very hard to generalize because everyone’s experience is different. People pre-game and then party at eating clubs every Thursday and Saturday, with some people choosing to do so on Friday as well. There are also fun ways to hang out with friends without alcohol. I wouldn’t ever describe this as a place where “everyone is uptight and never lets loose,” and I find it hard to imagine leaving such an incredible school for such a petty reason (and one that I’ve never heard people complain about).
