Social Work transfer question

I am going for a BS in Social Work. Right now I am at a community college then will transfer to the University. I was wondering what associate degree should I get? Sociology, communications or Psychology. How important is it to get an ass before I transfer. Looks like the community college requires the sociology ass degree to have 2 math classes that social work doesnt require. Same with the psychology ass degree. I dont mind math but want to get going on this degree as I'm not getting any younger..lol. Should I just go for it and enter into these math classes even though the school of socialwork doesnt require them.
Thanks for all the help.

All those three majors you mentioned for CC are worth more than a Social Work degree, which consistently ranks at the low end of the earning spectrum. If you are at CC and planning to transfer - you don’t have to get a degree; whether you have an AA or not isn’t going to matter much come job hunting time.

Well im mostly looking for something im good at and im a really supportive person. Whats extra important is that I have a job that offers insurance and retirement also that I enjoy it. Im confident in my ability to move up and make a decent wage either through school or work experience.
So just do the classes that are required?

While it’s noble to want to help people, you also have to look out for yourself.

A degree in Sociology would be your best bet if you want the best options; you can always supplement this Socialwork classes.

I’m sorry, but that line just made me laugh :)

The math courses for psych are probably statistic related, correct? More psych majors are interested in research than the typical social worker is (as a prospective career), so that may be why psychology programs push research methods and stats harder than social work/sociology programs do. However, understanding research will still be important for you since you’ll be applying research to your field, and if you want to be good at what you do you should keep up on relevant research in your field.

I don’t know if having and associates degree in any of those fields would help much before transferring, depending on what your BA/BS degree will be in.
