My sister is applying for scholarships now. We were looking at the Society of Women Engineers scholarships and one of the requirements was that you had to be part of an ABET program or affiliated ABET school. Are any of the ivies/top tech schools an ABET school?

thanks!

Yes, most reputable or top LACs/Ivys that offer engineering are ABET certified in at least some way. In any case, ALWAYS verify that an engineering school is certified in the majors that you are interested in. A school's Mech Eng major may be certified, but thier EE, or CS, or robotics or Eng Mgt major may not be. Check the ABET website. Don't take the school's word for it.

toadstool is right. My daughter is a CS major; the BA at her school is not ABET accredited, but the BCS is (can't remember about the BS). You have to check majors and even degrees.

She also won a scholarship from the SWE, actually funded by Microsoft, her sophomore year. Good luck.
