Socio-Cultural Anthropology

Does anyone know the best college, or top rated college(s), for Socio-Cultural anthropology? I'm still a freshman in high school, but I have an idea of what I want to do, so I need to see what goals I want to make. I'm thinking of University of Illinois, but thats a pretty tough college to get into is what my dad said, so I need others to look at as well. Keeping options open, ya know?

Rayna, some schools (some are tougher to get in than others) to maybe look at that have that particular major or concentration are Missouri, Vermont, Rutgers (New Brunswick/main campus), Delaware, Suny Stony Brook, Boston University, Chicago, Columbia and Northern Arizona.

Actually, University of Arizona is supposed to be one of the best programs in the country, and it isn't too hard to get into.

Poi's list is good as well, but I've definitely heard the most positive things about U of A.

Check out the CollegeBoard search feature. That will help you identify an initial list of 'match' schools, and you can work from there.

Thanks guys, that helps a lot. I'll check out some of those schools. I didnt know there was a search feature O.o Of course I just joined three days ago. Thanks again

Rayna, Illinois is very selective for Engineers, but for A&S students, it is not that selective. Arizona is indeed excelent in Anthropology. Other excellent and not-too-selective Anthropology departments can be found at the following universities:

Alma College
Beloit College
Millsaps College
Ohio Weseyan University

University of Tulsa
