Sociology majors!!

I'm still undecided what major to take...i was just wondering if anyone taking sociology could tell me a little more about their major.

also a couple of questions if anyone can answer...is sociology really similar to communications? is there a lot of math involved? what possible careers can stem out from having a degree in sociology?

Unless you want to go to grad school (law, medicine) or go to a top 10 schools so you can get a job in ibanking, dont do it.

You would be wasting your parents money.

why do you say that?

Sociology can be a very enjoyable major to study. Maybe not the most lucrative, but it definitely gets your mind going. You can studying everything from gender and social inequalities, race relations, social policy, poverty, crime, work, education, marriage and family life, and even social work.

Sociology is not really similar to communications, being that communications is more technical, and sociology is a liberal art. One or two methods courses are usually required for majors, most stats, but if you passed your gen ed math you will be fine.

The skills you learn from studying sociology and many of the liberal arts and sciences can be applied to many different careers. Here are some examples of careers with descriptions: [url=<a href="http://career.utk.edu/students/majors/html/sociology.htm%5DSociology%5B/url">http://career.utk.edu/students/majors/html/sociology.htm]Sociology[/url</a>]</p>
