Sodexo food

I'm heading to a college where the official campus dining food is by Sodexo. I've heard some bad things about it, but I'd like to know what other people here think of their college's food quality, taste, etc in general if they are also supplied by Sodexo. I'm definitely not a picky eater, but I do like everything to be sanitary and well-cooked and well-seasoned if possible. And if it really is as terrible as some people say, are there any (finance friendly) alternatives?

Had Sodexo in the military cafeteria. It got the job done… I wouldn’t say it was good, but it wasn’t inedible or offensive. Just bland.

I would still have an MRE (meal-ready-to-eat) over Sodexo any day, but then again, the MREs kick ass [fantastic #10, Chili-Mac!]

My hs and the college I originally planned to attend are both Sodexo facilities. The food is just that, food. It really depends on the school as to what kinds/variety of food will be served. The running joke at the college was that Sodexo is a large prison food contractor, but once again, it depends on what the institution wants them to serve and/or what it can afford.

Here at UW campus food is MUCH cheaper than eating out. You won’t have much choice IF you don’t have a kitchen.

Eating out >> Campus Dining > Kitchen/making own meals in terms of cost. From my experience, you should take what you get unless you think your long term health is at stake.

Sodexo serves food at hospitals, prisons, high schools, colleges, you name it.

It’s not BAD most of the time, but it does get repetitive.

The quality depends on the tier. The higher tier it is, the better it is. Overall though, it’s not bad.

The food for catered events is much better than the cafeteria food. Go to a lot of catered events. Get free dinner.

I was not a Sodexo fan. It was fine for the first few months, but then I eventually had everything in the rotation, and I could barely eat it anymore. As I mentioned in another thread, I went from having abnormally high blood iron to not high enough to donate blood (borderline anemic-ish) because I couldn’t really eat much if any of the meat at the dining halls. Except for people who didn’t mind eating the same things all of the time, most of the people I knew complained about it.

I hate SODEXO.

It makes you fat.

thanks for your feedback guys! haha and ehh from what people have said it sounds like typical cafeteria food, but it probably would not be smart eating it constantly for a year. hopefully my dorm room will be really close to the kitchen so I can at least cook some of my own meals…
