Soldier - NYU MA in international politics

I'm serving in military right now. While I'm in here, I find out that I have a keen interest in international politics. In college, I studied business with a specialty in finance. I'm thinking that I should go to grad school to stduy international politics, but I'm not sure that I would pursue Ph.D. I went to the NYU website and found out that they offer a program with international politics and international busienss. It brought my attention, so I want to know if I have a chance and find a way to improve competitiveness.

Unfortunately, While in college, I peformed poorly. Up until a sophomore year, I didn't study, slacking mostly... but from three semsters before graduation, I earned A's and B's.
So, Overall GPA is 2.7 and Major GPA is 3.0.
For extra activitiy, I was deeply invovled in church. I was the president in young adult ministry, a cell group leader, a band member, a tutor for high school students and went to mission trip to Costa Rica for few weeks.
Also, I took GRE (Q 770 V 550) in college. I didn't think that I would actually use this...hehe

After serving in military, I might work for either the world vision or a state-owned company. But I haven't decided anything yet.

What do you guys think?
Should I retake GRE to improve Verbal score and get some work experiences?
