My other ECs are alright.

Piano
Tennis
Swimming
I cofounded a business, served as CFO.
Lots of volunteer hours
I have had two jobs

Thoses are probably my main ECs, which as you can see, lack leadership roles. But is that essential for getting accepted?

Co-founding a business and serving as CFO is leadership. But to the larger question, no, not every student has to have ‘leadership’ roles in their ECs. Most of those student athletes, for example, are there because they are both outstanding students and outstanding athletes - not because they are President of the French Club. The same goes for musicians, artists and many other talented individuals.

what if you have the opposite?
tons of student leadership but like a 3.6 gpa with the most difficult courses the school offers

I don’t believe the college admission committee is simply evaluating the ECs of applicants purely objectively on achievement or prestige; it’s viewed subjectively and in context, with the rest of your application, including background, essays and everything else. So you can try to demonstrate the significance of these activities to you, and how you strived to succeed in these activities. So your role is important, but not as important as what these roles meant to you.
