Some Admissions Tidbits.....

<p>Recently there were articles in the Daily Trojan about admissions, applicants and some numbers regarding admissions. Some of this has already been posted.</p>

<ol>
<li><p>Applications to SC were up this year, despite the uncertain economy.</p></li>
<li><p>Average SAT scores of applicants were up by 20 points.</p></li>
<li><p>SC plans to extend slightly more top scholarships than last year.</p></li>
<li><p>Early applications for merit scholarships broke a record at about 20,000.</p></li>
<li><p>There was a whopping increase of applications from China, up 60%</p></li>
<li><p>Applications from South Korea were up 10%.</p></li>
<li><p>Applications from the Southeast were up 6.8%.</p></li>
<li><p>Applications from the Northeast were up 4.3%.</p></li>
<li><p>SC will admit fewer students than last year.</p></li>
<li><p>There are many more scholarships to be awarded such as alumnae, local alumni group, Town & Gown, ethnic group, Panhellenic and those from individual schools.</p></li>
<li><p>Do not forget to send in your fall semester grades.</p></li>
<li><p>If there appears to be an error such as invitation to Explore for a scholarsip, but no letter of admission contact your regional admissions representative. If you do not know who that person is, contact the admissions office.</p></li>

<p>Bummer though that more people than ever applied, their scores went up, and they’re accepting less people! USC might become an Ivy one day!</p>

<p>My son says he doesn’t have to send in fall grades until admissions asks. Is this true? He should anyway, he did very well.</p>

<p>lilmom, I think he should–especially since he did well! It may not be required, but it does show interest in USC. After all, the kids who don’t have USC at the top of their lists might not bother to report them. Just a thought.</p>
