Interesting Admissions info

I found a link to some Guidance Counselor Newsletters.
Index of /admission/undergraduate/private/docs/counselors/newsletter

It includes a lot of information about topics we talk about here like:

"Is there a minimum GPA or SAT score (for admissions)?
I’m sure that some universities choose students that way, but at USC we spend an incredible amount of time giving each application a comprehensive review. We evaluate grades, the student’s course of study, SATor ACTscores, writing samples, and teacher and counselor recommendations. We also consider extracurricular activities, as well as each individual student’s background and unique situation. Every application is read at least twice and the final decision is made in committee."

They also have topics like, "Do AP's make a difference?", and information about some of the programs available like Thematic Options, Study Abroad, Renaissance Scholars.

Hope someone finds this useful!

That's what all top-50 colleges do except the ones that use a numerical value formulaic system (UCs).

(Yeah, I know. But we keep getting "Chances" threads here so I thought I'd throw that in for those antsy applicants!)

Unfortunately, no amount of posts and information will stop the brain-dead chances threads. Even if there was a formula that predicted with 100% certainty whether you get in or not there would be some m0r0n posting a chances thread. Yeah, I know I am being harsh, but people usually deserve it.
