Some decisions out!

Same here. My EFC was $0, and they offered me nothing more than the scholarship they already offered me. (Plus the Pell Grant + $1,000 for filing my FAFSA early, but that’s only for the first year)
Was planning to visit this weekend, but not even going to bother now.

I’ve also heard how bad Drexel is with aid, I think it’s because they offer co-ops so they assume you can work on paying your bills with what you make from co-ops.

I’M IN! I’M IN!!! Yayyyy!!!

congrats pal! :)

Uhh I just checked and it has not updated hopefully by the end of the night fingers crossed congrats to everyone who gets in today.

Howsitgoing: Same for me! :/

You guys will get in! I just know it! I’ll be here to support!!!

Will they email you when a decision has been made? And the next wave would be March 20th?

EchoEchoEcho: you need to check your portal. And yes next wave will be the 20th (and will probably be the last).

If the last ‘wave’ is on the 20th, should we expect rejections at that time?

I also got the “updated” financial aid award and I thought it was a mistake because it’s literally the same sheet of paper they sent me 3 weeks ago. The projected cost for the 2013-2014 school year is exactly the same. I got zero in need-based aid. I know I don’t qualify for a lot of aid, but I think getting nothing is a little unfair considering Drexel is absurdly expensive to begin with.

My “new” FA award just shows the same merit scholarship I got back in February and the $1,000 early FAFSA award. I agree with 181965692. I was planning on visiting again this weekend or next but if I’m not getting anything in need-based aid there’s no way I’ll be able to attend.

So did anyone else get accepted this wave? Any rejections yet?

Sent from my SGH-I897 using CC

Nothing yet.
I hate this waiting game; four months is ridiculous. I kind of wish they would just reject me already because I’ve already been accepted into all the other schools I applied to. Plus, if they give crappy financial aid, I wouldn’t be able to go anyway (I have an EFC of 0).

Just got in!!!

Quick stats.

GPA: 3.1UW
ACT: 26
SAT: 1680

Race/Gender: Black/Male
State: MD

I had good ECs and awards but i’m too lazy to post them. I probably won’t be attending drexel anyway but good luck to everyone else.

I know Drexel gets a lot of applications. And that they want to spend time on each one. But. This. Is. Ridiculous. 3.5 months waiting. I don’t even want to go here anymore!!! They didn’t bother to try to keep in contact, just left me in a waiting zone. They’re an overly expensive school that heartlessly pumps out degrees. Just reject me. I would never go here.

emmacat1234: I think Drexel increased in applications this year because of all the free “VIP” apps they give out.

I still can’t believe i’m waiting- I have fairly good scores, 11 AP classes, awards, and ECs. If Drexel is going to reject me they should just do it. I also updated Drexel with new awards i got after they released the first wave and I never got confirmation that they had updated my application, which every other school I updated did.

Emmacat1234 and mystical kites : Why the sudden change in behavior? When you applied they never said you would hear back by the beginning of March. Just because you’re on the last wave doesn’t mean anything you have just same chance at acceptance and aid. Most schools have blanket acceptance dates at the end of this month. There is no reason to feel bad until you actually hear back the 20th is a week earlier than a lot of other schools.

The problem is that they don’t care. All my other schools kept up with me. Sent me info. Invited me to tour. Tried to welcome me. Drexel has done no such thing. Even when I called the school, they were rude and impersonal. The school has 100% turned me off. I am no longer interested. If they treated me like this when I’m there, I’d be miserable. It’s not worth making my parents dish out 50k a year. The school is a degree pumping machine without a care for the students.

Howsitgoing: I think my problem with Drexel is like emmacat1234’s in that every other school I have been in contact has been helpful and informative when asking for information on their school and updating my application. And don’t get me wrong, I still think Drexel is a good school and offers some great programs but I think their lack of communication with prospective students really makes them not look so hot.

Accepted too!
AA female
2250 SAT 3.9 UW

  • lots of ECs
    Good recs

I used the VIP app and they gave me the 25K AJ Drexel scholarship. It won’t matter though b/c I’d need close to a full ride to even consider it, since Drexel is so obscenely expensive. I got like 0 in need based which is really annoying, but I got into Amherst yesterday (and they meet all need) so take that Drexel. Lol
