Some decisions to be made...

Hey guys.
So I find myself at yet another cross road in my hunt for a job in the summer with which I want to go to and which has all the components which I desire.

So first my BG...
I have already had an offer from a few diff. companies and gov. agencies which I have decided not to accept. Now I have two offers deadlines coming up before interviews with two other companies.

so heres what I got:

1 Offer from a def. contractor (one of the bigger ones) For around 18-19/hr plus a small living stipend
1 offer from a food company (one of those cereal companies ;)) to work in the IS dept. for around 22/hr and subsidized housing.
Both offers are in the same city which I have visited and I certainly would mind living in for a summer.

Now my interviews I have one coming up with another big def. contractor in a city on the east coast which I would mind living in and an interview with an investment firm in NYC for an job in their IT. One of my problems is these interviews are after the deadlines of my two offers.

So lets assume I won't be able to get the offers extended. Would you guys take one of the offers, or wait and decline to see what the future may hold? I'm just trying to get a feel of what someone else would do since I keep on going back and forth in my own head.

A little problem with phraseology.. If I understand, you have two offer in an acceptable location and two upcoming interviews that would be acceptable if offered ( I am assuming the two yet to interview look like they could be better than the two 'in hand' or you wouldnt be asking.

Ok I am 49 an energy industry professional, worked around the world, and pride my self on ethical behavior. So I am going to suggest (as you have) (First) decide which of the two in hand are better, turn down the lesser and open up a potential spot for someone else. (Second- assuming you cant get an extension) take the other job (Three) Interview with the other two and if you get a better job take it and tell company one, that the situation has changed and you have to now turn down their offer.

You may have questions about the ethics of this. I would simply ask you, if company ONE, had a change in fortune, could they rescind your offer-YES. Would They-Yes ... It has happened in the past ... This is all assuming Company One is not someplace you want to return to in the future.

Think about it ..reactions
