i am a junior at a very rigorous college preparatory school.. my overall high school GPA should be about a 3.7 or a 3.8...my SAT score is 2250.. 710 Cr..740 math..800 writing... i have many extracaricullars including captain of a sports team, eagle scout, student council, forensics, and a state-wide ranking for tennis..also a lot of community service... do i have a chance to get in somewhere like U PENN.. or Columbia???

i just want to get an idea of my chances.. THANKS

They aren't out of reach...but there's nothing that indicates you're very likely to get into them. Those schools are reaches for everyone, and you don't have any sort of hook.

Your ECs look pretty strong, but nothing amazing. SAT is good, but the writing pulls it up to a degree. M+V is slightly less impressive (though still within range). GPA is kind of low, but if rank is good that could be redeemable. (And I'm assuming it's UW...if Weighted, that GPA will definitely hurt.)

So, good a chance as any, I'd say. Nothing keeping you out, you're within range...but nothing special enough to indicate you should get in over the other thousands of kids with the same stats.

I think it'll be worth a shot - you're within the range. Nothing too impressive, but you never know what's gonna happen. I'd say about 20-25% chances, but depending on many other factors that you haven't mentioned, that will change.
