Do they give distribution req credit for APs now? They didn't for me.

I'm going into Trinity next year, and I've decided to take Math 102, Econ 55, and the required seminar. But I'm a little unsure of the fourth and final class I should take. I'm not the best at science - but I've already passed out of AP Bio - and I know that I have to take at least one year of French. Any classes that you have taken that are either interesting or easy, please share your input and experiences. Thanks

Can anyone quickly tell me the language requirements at Duke?

For the language, you basically have to take either 3 classes, or up to a 100 level.

This means you could either:

1) Start a language and take the first 3 levels
2) Continue a language until you reach a 100 level (say you place into Spanish 76, you'd take Spanish 76 and a 100 level), so only 2 classes
3) Place into a 100 level class, and just take one of those.

Of course, if you're an engineer you have know FL requirement.

Can someone please confirm my question in post 20?

I think that sounds like a good setup...although make sure you can a) get into 116 with the pre-reqs, b) it isn't full. Even if you take a random 100 level class besides 116, atleast it will count towards the major. Other that than I think that's a really good plan...pretty typical of what you see most freshman doing.

Again, for Trinity you CAN NOT use AP credits for distribution requirements. You can use your calc BC credit to place into Math 103 but you still need to take 2 QS classes.

For post # 22: EOS 11 is not a bad science if you want something easier. BAA 93 is supposed to be OK also but a little harder. I would also get started with French if you can place into #63 or #76 which are 3 days per week only. Econ 55 with the professor who is teaching it in the fall is not interesting or easy. If EOS 11 fits into your schedule, you should do it since you will have a lot of work with multivariable/econ 55/writing 20.

Possible Schedule for Next Year?

I'm an incoming freshman into Trinity and majoring in Biology with a minor in Economics. I'm thinking about Pre-Med, but I'm not sure yet.
Unfortunately, my high school didn't offer a lot of APs. How much will this affect my schedule and my ability to be a pre-med student? For my schedule freshman year, I was thinking about something like this...

Semester 1
Writing 20
Chem 21L
Math 31L
Spanish

Semester 2
Seminar
Biology 26L
Math 32L
(any ideas as to the fourth course?)

I'm new to this whole college schedule thing, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Do most freshman take Math 31L/Math 32L rather than Math 103? How hard are and what is the difference between Math 31L and Math 32L?

Rel:
Your schedule is a lot like mine. I'm majoring in Biology, too! I'll be taking Math103 most likely because I took BC Calc in high school. I'll also be starting a new foreign language because I took Spanish in high school. For your fourth course in your second semester, why not continue your foreign language? If you're like me, you'll be taking three classes of foreign language to fulfill the Trinity requirements anyways.

Chill:
If I had to take a guess, I'd say its 50/50 because I'm sure a lot of kids have taken BC Calc.

Rel- You need to take Chem 22 second semester.

how hard would it be to major in psychology and public policy.
i need help picking classes as well. I am a pre-law student by the way. this is what i have so far:

Semester One:

Focus which would take up 2 classes
some sort of math (I haven't had math in a year)
and I dont kno
Second Semester:

Writing 20

-

If i were to do a psychology, pub pol double major what are some good intro classes to gauge my interest? I have already taken ap psychology btw.

also as a pre law student, is it a good idea to stay away from difficult math and science courses that are likely to hurt my gpa??

Psych 92, 97, 99, 114, 116 are good intro courses. The last three might be the easiest ones in the department depending on the professor. Avoid psych 11 since you wouldn't get credit for the major if you decide to do it. 92 could be the best option but it may be a little more challenging.

Does anyone know anything about Microbiology (Bio 103)...how hard the tests are, how much work I need to put in, etc?

And Chem 110?

Can you take Math 31, and skip 32? I have credit for the BC exam, but I feel that I'm a lot stronger at BC than AB, which is the reason I'm taking calculus anyway.

seriously, how do you know which registration block you're in? lol

You go to dukepass under the first-year students tab.
Then click on Registration, and it will tell you your date.

thank you Rel =)
Yay I got the first day!

BIo 103L has a lot of a lab time, but if you put in the time, it should be okay. Chem 110 isn't that bad though they just switched teachers.
