I'm currently a high school student in Turkey, and I will apply to some UK universities for college. I am pretty sure that I want to study aerospace/aeronautical engineering and from what I've heard and seen, the UK has some great schools in the field. The schools I have in my mind so far are Imperial College and, despite slim chances, Cambridge. Do you have any advice for further schools and how do you rate my chances of admission to Imperial or Cambridge based on the following qualifications? Also, do UK schools care at all about high school GPA, and if they do would they take my 1st semester senior grades into account?

Mind that I'm a senior

SAT:
2210/2400 Reasoning (680 CR, 800 M, 730 WR; combined score, 2170 single sitting, 2 sittings so far)
800/800 Math II
800/800 Physics

AP:
Physics B 5
Physics C Mechanics 5
Physics C E&M 5
Calculus BC 5 (AB Subscore 5)
Chemistry 5
English Language 5
English Lit 3 (I hope this won't be too detrimental)

School grades:
Roughly 87 out of 100. Hope to increase it a little this final semester, though I doubt if they'll consider that.

Extracurriculars:
I've heard that the UK does not care about ECs unless it's related to what you want to study, and I have a couple of those. I've interned doing research at two very prestigious universities in Turkey on mech. engineering and environmental engineering where I did serious research, designed and built apparatuses etc. Hope they'll improve my chances.

Fellshock, you have strong credentials for consideration by Cambridge and Imperial. You might have seen the Cambridge advice for applicants from Turkey but a better reference would be the U.S. advice page given your AP and SAT scores.

The GPA might be considered. You could figure this out this by determining if a transcript is required in addition to your test scores. My suggestion is to check the web sites and then email admissions tutors at a Cambridge College and Imperial as well as any other universities you are interested in.

As you have pointed out, the probability of admissions to these schools is difficult to determine for any applicant and perhaps more so for you given your unique combination of a Turkish education and strong scores in tests more typically taken by U.S. students. The 3 in English Lit will not be an issue while the 5 in English Language is an excellent affirmation regarding your english language abilities.

Have you started the UCAS process? The UCAS deadline for Cambridge is October 15 and they also require an additional form (COPA). Note that Cambridge asks that you do not wait for the deadline to complete these forms. This is the overview of the Cambridge process: [How to apply](<a href=“Study at Cambridge | University of Cambridge”>Study at Cambridge | University of Cambridge)

For more information I recommend the UK website and support forum known as The Student Room. Check out the university information as well as the subject-specific material. This is a good place to get recommendations for additional universities to apply to as well as excellent advice on all matters related to a UK university education.
