Some Republican ideas seem racist.

Getting back on track, that's exactly what I'm trying to say KissMeKate.

The problem with the American constituents today is that they try to divide people into 2 parties based on ideologies. People assume that if you are pro-life, you must be a Republican or if you are pro-gun control, you are a Democrat.

Which is why I like Big G a lotttt more than any other Republican candidate even though he is a Republican. He stands up for his opinions and I realllly admire that because some people hate him for supporting pro-choice and for his family life (divorces). But he doesn't back down. That is the type of person who is fit to be a president. Unlike McCain and Romney who have flip-flopped in speeches according to audiences and in positions now that they are running for president. Wait...now that I think of it lets not get into a presidential debate haha.

I liked former Senator Zell Miller (D) Georgia, a lot and I wish more Senators would replicate his actions. He stood up to the Democratic Party (their condescending nickname for him was "zellout") because he thought some of their ideas were wrong for the time we are living in. And he didn't give a hoot what they thought. The rest blindly follow their party.

Why do we have only two main parties anyway? Its always either A or B.

I'm not familiar with him but if that is what he ran his campaigns on (as in he didn't just start to flip-flop once he got into office) then I think that is good. Just sux that it was against the Dems ;) .

That level of respect is the opposite for my Senator (lol I'm from CT so guess who!) who I don't like anymore. I really do feel like he is a traitor sometimes...even if I guess he is standing up for what he believes. He was pretty much elected by repubs (he lost the dem primary) too which was just like ummmm...

ps Gryf the Green party is the established 3rd party. Problem is that it consists of mostly people who would be Democrats!

Third party candidates (and their respective parties) generally do not generate as much money from donors, unlike the Republican and Democratic Parties.

I'm not telling which Republican candidate I'm rooting for. I get attacked enough on these boards, but I have them ranked. ;)

^^Mitt Romney is my favorite. he is the only one in the republican debate who actually seemed to hold true conservative values.

hey smurf, try living in Cleveland, Ohio and then telling me about diversity :-)

And hon, a simple majority means more than 50%. 42% is a plurality, not a majority. Try looking at the dictionary next time.

Ahh Figgy i LOVE rudy giuliani (i'm assuming that's Big G???)

Mocha...honey, Dearborn, Michigan has the largest population of Arabs in the United States. Hamtramck used to be called "Poletown", but now Muslims are predominant in that city.

And honey, unlike you, I have better things to do than read the dictionary. I have a life outside of academics and CC. Bye-bye LOL.

Ron Paul! The first time I've ever been impressed enough to consider voting Republican!

I agree with you on that, but my point was that republicans aren't the only people on the planet to be anti-gay (and not all anti-gays are republicans).

I'm fiscally conservative and socially liberal and I personally think both parties are corrupt and stand for the same damn thing: white rich old men. I'm a fan of hm.....libertarianism. Government should simply get the **** out of people's bedrooms, wallets, and belief systems.

I guess we should have listened to George Washington when he told us to avoid political factions like the plague......

And I'm pro-choice, anti-taxes, pro-gay rights, and anti-government influence on anything! someone tell me which party that is.

That's democratic morals and republican economics. If I were you I'd sign up either as an independent and vote for whoever combines your morals and economics the best or join whichever party you feel closer to so that you can have a voice in the primaries and then in the real election vote for whoever holds your values the most.

MJ Romney comes from Mass and has the perfect conservative values? Right there you know he changed himself when he decided to run for president because no picturesque conservative would win in Mass. One example if I remember right (don't kill me if I don't! he was pro-choice.) Don't kill me if I'm mistaken though...I researched him a while ago. He changed his values so that he would look like that perfect conservative presidential candidate. That's wat we call a flip-flopper lol.

and ya I was talking about Rudy G.

Ya I understand Kiss...but look at it this way. If he did the opposite there would be a nicccce uproar happening. He either had to do nothing or do that pretty much. And if it was while his polls were waning (when conservative family value people and others were in an uproar over his affair...I wouldn't be suprised if that was when he did it). What I loved was that one of the #1 men prosecuting him was having an affair as well. Makes me laugh every single time. But ya, I do understand that there are anti-gay marriage people on both parties. But I sure as hell know I'm on the one with less of em or I wouldn't be very happy lol.

What we need is Gore to run! lol I just said that w/ a bunch of repubs reporting back to this forum. But hey, I love Gore. If anyone saw Family Guy tonight...o man it was great. There was a segment where Peter changed time and as a result Gore had beaten Bush and the world was great because of it. There were flying cars that ran on vege oil n stuff. And he found bin laden. Then Dick Cheney had gotten into a hunting accident with all of the outspoken conservatives. And noone died anymore because of strict gun laws and the funding of better health care and schools. It was so funny!

(One thing I found interesting pertaining to guns...The man who killed all of the students was South Korean. Then everyone goes...hmm...maybe it has to do with South Korea. But in reality South Korea has never had those types of things ever happen because of their strict gun laws. Just made me laugh harder at Family Guy because it was so true. I'm not getting into out Amendment rights or anything right now...but if there are no guns there are no shootings. lol k lets not debate that I took it wayyy too far. lol I love how I'm bringing all of these issues up)

There are so many stances to take on so many issues.. Do any of you know of a site where it lists the many issues people are debating over with right now? (And the site only LISTS them, without any bias towards one stance or another)

^that would actually be really helpful!

Can I just say that I, for one, am against gay marriage because marriage is a Biblical institution. Heterosexuals do their part to de-sanctify marriage, don't get me wrong, but they at least lead some semblance of the kind of life the Bible lays out. If you opt out of that, fine, but don't expect to get married in a church. Come on now.

I do support civil unions between same-sex couples.

If civil-unions gave couples the same rights as marriage then I would accept your answer. But they don't. And since there should be a seperation of church and state simply saying "because my bible says it is so" isn't enough of an explanation to me to take away things such as hospital visitation rights, rights pertaining to wills (as in written will), ect...

Plus I don't see why churches allow athiests and others to marry! There are SO many sinners who are allowed to marry. If all sins are equal then why segregate?

Obama is inexperienced as far as D.C politics is concerned. State senate and U.S Senate are definitely different things.

Compare his experience to the tons of others running, and you will see why we call him inexperienced.

He exploits the fact that he hasn't had to take a stand on many issues because he frankly has not been there. While he claims he would have voted against the Iraq resolution, if he had actually been there, it might have been a different story. At the time of that vote, it was thought to be political suicide to oppose the war. I doubt he would have taken a stand had his career really been on the line. As his senate career goes on, we will see more and more of what he really stands for, and his attractiveness as a candidate will go down.
