Some Statistics....

Anyone know what proportion of Cornell students enter as Premeds? Anyone known how many apply for med school? What the success rates are?

I have heard many Cornellians get in med school, but what is the policy on allowing students to apply? Is it like in other places where only the most qualified students are allowed to give it a shot?

Cornell does not screen its applicants per se. This means that as long as you pay the $190 fee, you will get a fair interview from Cornell's prehealth committee and a letter of evaluation that's written with a "positive tone." However, note that this is a letter of evaluation, not of recommendation. I was reading the cover sheet that Cornell's committee sends out to med schools and it notes that Cornell's applicants range from "extraodinary" to "noncompetitive" so Cornell's committee does pass some judgement when writing your letter.
