<p>i'm currently deciding between nyu and cornell a/s for next year, and i was wondering which of the two schools is better for premed. does anyone know any stats on how well cornell students do on average and what med schools they get into? also, how intense is the competition?

<p>High 70's-low 80's in terms of acceptance rates to med schools. Obviously, the spectrum of Cornell applicants go from amazing (3.9, 40+ MCAT) to so-so to plain bad (sub 3.0, sub 30). Cornell students get into all of the top med schools. 80% of Cornell applicants with 3.8+ GPAs get into at least one top 20 med school, which is impressive considering the average acceptance rate at top 20 med schools is approx. 6%.</p>
<p>You'll meet a few gunners (like me hehe ) but generally people are pretty chill. Everyone wants to do well but I haven't found too many intensely competitive people.</p>
