Hello! :)

I'm interested in taking some Summer Art Programs to build a portfolio. Even though I'm not planning on majoring in art I'd love to continue it as a minor, plus I just plain love it. I was looking at some summer programs that might also give credit and have come up with some like Pratt, MICA, etc. The trouble is I'm horribly late for some that require a portfolio, and others where portfolio making isn't a major concern. I know there's still some time for the deadline for MICA, but I have so much going on between Theatre, retaking SATs, SAT 2s, an upcoming trip, AP Tests, and my Black Belt Test that I'm worried I wouldn't make deadlines.

I honestly don't feel as if my abilities are AMAZING either, until recently I've stuck with pencil sketches and VERY crude photoshop coloring. I've improved in that and have begun to explore traditional media such as watercolors and acrylics due to the painting course I'm taking this year, but even so I'm still worried. Not to mention the whole "time to build a portfolio to present this late in the game" worry.

I'm particularly interested in expanding my work in photoshop, cartoons, illustrations, even animation, but I definitely would want to be able to expand the traditional media as well. Would anyone be able to suggest some programs?

Also, I'm a New Yorker so I have regents that end around June twenty-something, and I'm also wondering about whether or not I should bother applying to one that begins near that.

And also, I know this doesn't give credit, but the MICA portfolio preparation classes, what exactly is the background on those?
