someone help me with this math problem

write <6,0,4> as a sum of 2 vectors

That is the only instruction?

Forget about majoring in engineering.

^haha, harsh. Who are you, Bill Saric?

6i-hat + 4k-hat

^If that was really all you were looking for and you couldn’t figure it out yourself…then maybe gstein has a point.

He was probably just confused by the instructions, since there are multiple ways to represent a vector… Or was just ■■■■■■■■ or something.

Hmm, I’m not sure??

Try this…

a = < 3 , 0 , 2 >
b = < 3 , 0 , 2 >

a + b = < 6,0,4 >; however, there are endless ways to do this.

but yeah, a = 6i^ + 4k^ is probably what they are looking for.

Technically you aren’t supposed to ask homework questions on here.

justsayin

‘Just sayin’ is the ruse of someone who does not stand by his words. Either one is permitted or one is not.

The culture is rife with ‘just sayin’ in that no one is accountable for anything; anyone can spew whatever nonsense they please and that annoying little phrase legitimises the whole steaming pile of dung in the eyes of those who do not know better.

Is life actually that black and white for you? Jaywalking is not permitted, yet it is rarely enforced. You can drive 60 mph, but the speed limit is really 55. You’re not going to get ticketed for that.

^^ You have some real issues, you know that?

Yes, it is against the ToS to post homework questions. The people who run the site either don’t want it to be a homework help site or don’t want it to turn into a medium or cheating. My money is on both.

Now I am not about to go clicking on report post and getting people in trouble, I am “just sayin’” it so that they are aware.

“Technically you aren’t supposed to ask homework questions on here.”

I can’t imagine that question is of vital importance to his homework. Looks more like clarification was needed.

It’s kind of a vague question anyway.

ken - nice cursory glance there. If you had bothered to read the paragraph, you would have known that it was not an issue of black and white.
bone - my argument is that the phrase creates ambiguity and a lack of accountability. Again, either such an inquiry is permitted or it is not, it’s not ‘kinda sorta uh I dunno’.

Saying “just sayin’” does not mean I am not sure (anyone else isn’t sure or is being noncommittal). It means I’m just saying, not taking action.

It seemed pretty clear to me. The inquiry is technically not allowed, but is not being strictly enforced by the powers that be.

That would be an honor, but I don’t think I’d physically or mentally pass for him =D

By the way, I had a friend/acquaintance work for his group this summer, he seemed to enjoy it… maybe you had some encounters with him.

<3, 0, 2> + <3, 0, 2> will work, it is the sum of two vectors and equals <6, 0, 4>. you could also use any other combination, just remember that vector addition is cumulative and therefore any combination of numbers that adds up to <6, 0, 4> will work.

Well I am sure I did. There are only 2 undergrads that I know of that worked for him this summer, both over at the KSWT. They looked like they had a heck of a time just sanding the wing for half the summer, haha.

Ha, well he didn’t go into details, but yeah he did mention being over at Easterwood at one of the wind tunnels. I myself interned at a pretty cool wind tunnel this summer as well.
