does the college of education and human development take 23 ACT scores. I have a 23 act score and a 3.85 unweighted gpa do i have a chance.

Are you a junior right now?

yes i am a junior

That’s a bit low, but I think if you apply early enough and bump up your GPA it could work. Obviously don’t expect merit scholarships. However, since you’re junior you might just wanna retake it again. I know you usually get higher scores if you retake it again. I did.

Good luck!

Sure, I think you have a decent shot. I would also recommend retaking the ACT, though. The average from 2008 for CEHD was a 23.2, but the university is becoming more competitive each year. Even if you were just able to raise your score by one point, it might give you an advantage. Your GPA is wonderful, though. Put emphasis on extracurriculars in your application!

and also i am in the top 10 students in my class. I have many extra cirriculars, and also attend a highly respected private high school in wisconsin.

I’d say that you have a pretty good shot for that college, but I wouldn’t expect much merit aid. If you were trying to get into any of the other colleges (CBS, IT, CLA, , etc.), then you would run into trouble. But given your GPA, EC’s, and class rank, I’d say that you have about an 75%-80% chance. Good luck!

Pacman54 - I agree with others on this thread. I kind of feel your ACT score is inconsistent with your GPA/EC/rank etc. I suspect you didn’t study hard enough for your ACT test (did you ?). If that is the case then I suggest you take the test again, this time taking the time to do several practice tests You will be surprised by the jump in your score. Most everyone I know in similar situation improved theirs by at least 4 (one person improved by just 2 but she got 27 in the first attempt).

Even if nothing else about your application improves (and as long as nothing goes south), your chances will still improve dramatically with A score of say 25-26 (you go from top 30% to top 15%). Good luck.

Yeah, I know my act sucks, I take it again in June. Oh and by the way, some of my ec’s include football team captain, NHS, building a house for habitat for humanity, visiting nursing homes, serving at my local parrish (5 years), peer educator, and a school ambassador. (not all ec’s but some) My classes were not easy if that is what you were implying THEKIWIONTHEPRAIRIE. I have taken 5-5 1/2 years of sciences (at least 1 and 1/2 of those years were college level), and a full year of college credit math. By the way, an A- is a 93%-94% and an A is a 95% and up at my school.

No … I did not mean to impy that at all. The additional information you provided more or less confirms what I suspected - that your ACT score doesn’t reflect your high caliber/ability/achievements. So sorry if I offended you in any way. Good luck for June.

so if all of you had to give me a percent chance of acceptance what would you give me of getting in?
AT9 already gave me a 75-80% chance, how about the rest of you guys

I’d say 50-60%. Need to raise your ACT up a little. Should be fine after.

I’d be willing to go 70-80%, because you’re applying to CEHD and your GPA is strong. Low test scores are definitely surmountable. You’re already a good candidate, but if you can improve that ACT score to a 25+, you should be golden.

The applications come out july 1st or something like that. What is the earliest I can submit my application?

I’d give a 65-75% chance.

What is the earliest I can submit my application?

bummmmmmmmmmmmmmpppppppppppp

How about checking the U’s website for that info? It is my recollection that you can submit it as soon as it comes online.

can i still send a recomendation with my application even though it is not required???

Yes, most people send two letters of recommendation with their applications.
