I’m a student who kinda bullshitted my way through high school.
-I have a 3.5 unweighted GPA
-Got a 22 on my ACT (took it to prove I could get a 30 on the Math- which I did)
-Did PSEO (same thing as dual enrollment)
-Have taken a multiple AP courses
(I’m aware I should’ve taken school more seriously but it’s senior year and there isn’t much I could do to change it).
I’ve applied for the U of M bc my first 3 choices are private colleges and just in case I couldn’t pay for it, I applied for the U. What are my chances of getting into College of Liberal Art and the College of Education and Human Development?
Your ACT is kinda low but if you’re applying as a liberal arts/education major then I think you have a good chance. If your school grants admission by major then you’re probably fine. I wouldn’t stress it too much unless you’re taking the SAT/ACT again in December.
You should retake your ACT if possible; however, your stats are good enough for CEHD.
CEHD has an “admitted” 50th percentile range of 23-28; however, of those actually enrolled, the range is 21-27:

The PSEO and the 30 on Math are obviously going to help you, and might even get you into CLA though that’s a bit of a stretch.
What did you put down for a major of interest, and why did you choose it? Also, what are your reasons for moving onto a college career at this point? The Adcom at UMN (like any adcom) will be looking closely at your application with these questions in mind for one very important reason: they will see that you ■■■■■■■■■■■ your way through high school. As long as you are able to show some reasonable amount of college-readiness, there’s probably a place for you somewhere at UMN. If the Adcom feels that you simply aren’t yet adequately prepared at this time (despite your obvious intellectual gifts), then you may be facing a waitlist. Hopefully, you provided some backup to your application, such as a letter from your GC attesting to your strengths, or a personal statement explaining how things are turned around now. Also, you might want to send your first semester or trimester transcript immediately upon receiving it, especially if it shows the GPA going in the right direction. With that ACT, you really want a higher GPA to be assured of admission.
Good luck to you!
