So happy decision is made, Clemson it is! Loved the school when we visited. However, I am concerned about one thing.....son is biomedical engineering major.....how hard do you think it is to keep a 3.0 in order to keep his merit scholarship? This is the only thing that worries me.

As a civil engineering major it’s going to be hard but not impossible. Take advantage of office hours and tutoring, and definitely improve on your time management skills if they are not solid already (nice resource here: [College Survival Skills](http://www.clemson.edu/collegeskills/INDEX.HTM)). There are tons of people who get 4.0’s in engineering but also people who slack off and are below 2.5. It is going to be harder than other majors and you’re going to have to put in a lot more work than high school but it’s shouldn’t be too hard to get the grades you need to get a 3.0 GPA each semester. The teachers aren’t trying to flunk you. The material is hard but they’ll provide tons of opportunities to help you out (many hold optional review sessions before exams) and you just have to learn to ask for help if you are struggling. That’s something I struggled with the first 2 years of college. I never needed any help in high school so I was pretty stubborn and tried to learn everything on my own even though I wasn’t getting it and as a result I didn’t do very well.
