Son has arrived at Oxford!

Whew - after months of waiting and a great deal of organizing the day finally arrived! HIs grad program required him to be at school 3 weeks early for some intense pre course work. The bus from Heathrow dropped him off a block form his college to report to the lodge porter at Oriel college and get his room key. I got the sense he was exhausted from the travel and from lugging 2 huge suitcase through the airport and then up 4 or 5 flights of stairs. The room apparently tons of storage and if he smashes his face against his window and looks to the left, he has a view of the Christ Church Cathedral. His staircase is adjacent to the graduate lounge…good or bad…I’m not sure :). I had ordered at mattress topper and some other bedding from Amazon.co.uk and the fitted sheet and a blanket have not yet arrived.

We haven’t figured out the cell phone thing yet so he signed up for 2 months of international usage via AT&T. I was lucky enough to find an amazing deal at Macy’s for a tuxedo as he will be at a minimum of 6 tux type events - seemed easier than renting one each for each event. I pre ordered the sub fusc at Shepherd and Woodward so it is prepaid and ready to pick up.

Good luck to all students and applicants. Enjoy the process.
