eagles - hotel california

i was going to say that one so i'll say More than Words by extreme

Radiohead - Black Star (acoustic. very nice.)

Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Road Trippin' (this one is totally acoustic, "unplugged" music)
Bryan Adams - I'll always be right there (has an easy a live version, and a super tough album version)
And basically any acoustic version of Goo goo dolls songs (Iris, Black Balloon, Slide etc.)

Eric Clapton - Layla Unplugged
It might be better than the original.

Elliott Smith

If you want to hear how beautiful the instrument sounds, then you'll probably to have to go to classical guitar musical. The sound usually isn't masked by vocals and hidden by over compression.

Unfortunately, I don't know much classical music, though I dig "Bouree" by Leo Kotkke.

Ah! Classical guitar is THE BEST! On the Pure Moods 3 CD: Virtue - Jessie Cook

I like "moon river" too

anything by the Dave Matthews Band

If you want something a bit different:

Opeth: Credence

Bob Dylan: just about all his music, especially "Blowin' in the Wind"

George Harrison - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Something"

Jimi Hendrix - "Angel"

Johnny Cash - "Hurt"

Live - "Imagine" (Accoustic cover of John Lennon's original)

Nirvana - "All Apologies", "Dumb"

All of the above are the accoustic versions.

I think he has such better songs (at least with more interesting guitar playing in them). Check out "Boots of Spanish Leather." That will make you weep.

geez, pretty much any Old 97's song is all about the acoustic guitar...i'm like in love with them...

maybe..."Alone So Far" is a good one..."Salome" and "Streets of Where I'm From", too.

ohne zitrone: Leo Kottke rules! I think I've listened to "one guitar no vocals" about a million times over the past couple weeks.

Ottmar Liebert (all songs on Barcelona Nights)
various old Rush songs (Rivendel-sp?, farewell to kings, etc)
Peter White (both solo and with 3rd Force)
beginning of Crazy On You by Heart

Check out Elliott Smith's album, "Either/Or"

ok, vegangirl.

but ever since i started that first song rec thread and heard about elliot smith, i've dled almost all his songs already. :).

Battle of Evermore and Bron-Y-Aur Stomp - Led Zeppelin

eagles - tequila sunrise

Dee - Randy Rhoads
