<p>I was wondering which of the two would be more effective-writing down notes by hand in a notebook, or typing them while the lecture goes on. I know in some cases one might prevail over the other but, generally, which is more appropriate for a bio student.</p>
<p>In case it helps, Im taking Bio 93, Chem 1A and Writing 39B this fall</p>
<p>I’d go for a binder for Writing 39B and a notebook for Chem 1A (you’ll most likely be drawing diagrams). Can’t say for Bio 93.</p>

<p>Depends on your handwriting and speed. I would say if your more comfortable typing go with a laptop or if you can write like a speed demon go with notesbooks.</p>
<p>i only took written notes in my math class. it was a laptop for every other class. but honestly ditch the laptop. it was waaaay to distracting for me. i was always on facebook or 4chan or some other random site not paying attention.</p>
<p>Chem and math = always paper and pencil. Your laptop’s not gonna do you much good unless you have a tablet.</p>
<p>But for bio some people do well with traditional paper but most people will find that the information is a LOT and the professor zooms through their powerpoint slides. If you type faster than you handwrite, you should definitely take notes on your laptop. Plus you save paper :)</p>
<p>Oh, and for writing it’s mostly just essays, which they usually require to be typed.</p>
<p>Haha, jk about the tablet thing, but in all reality, you should go paper and pencil for everything. Laptops shouldn’t really be in class unless you’re doing stuff not relating to class, and everyone in here knows how distracting a computer in front of you is. It’s even more distracting during class, just saying.</p>
