Soon to be transfer

If I would want to transfer out of my college and go to an Ivy League school, what would I have to achieve in order to do so? I didn’t do too well in high school for specific reasons, but I’ve always wanted to attend Yale ever since I was younger. What would I have to achieve in college to transfer? Would my high school gpa matter or affect anything if I want to transfer? Also, I’m planning on taking the first semester off in college, would that also affect acceptance? Would they not want to take me if I decided to start school in the sprig instead of fall?

After 2 years of college, your high school GPA is no longer relevant with respect to transfer admissions.

If you try to transfer during your first year of college (determined by number of credits earned), your high school GPA & standardized test scores are relevant.

I see, what if I am trying to transfer to a top tier school? The school I’m trying to transfer to is practically hard to get into, so if I choose to take off the first semester would it effect my chances of getting accepted

You will ned truly exceptional grades and letters of recommendation in order to be a vialbe candidate for admission at Yale. Taking a semester or more off won’t be a problem, provided you have good reasons (such as a medical situation) and/or make meaningful use of that time out of college.

Not all my credits will be transferred until January, so I would not be able to start college until the spring semester. Would that still affect anything?
