sophomore chances (dont make fun :-P )!!

I am only a sophomore, but I am starting to think about colleges early. I want to make sure that I don't start out with too broad a list and without having anything to really aim for. So if you guys could help me out and let me know, just based on my stats so far, what my chances are at some colleges, i would really appreciate it.

white female
High School: very competitive Jesuit College Preparatory
Freshman GPA: 2.8 (a lot of personal problems, but I don't know how much freshman grades count, and if I will be able to explain the low GPA)
Sophomore GPA: 3.6uw/3.8w (I know colleges like upward trends...)
one honors class (english-freshman and sophomore years...I plan to take AP History, AP English, and AP Government)

PLAN (pre-SAT/ACT test that predicts SAT, ACT scores): predicted 1500+

ECs:
- Co-founder/President of CauseWeCare (a large youth volunteer/service group in San Francisco; work with many organizations and political leaders in SF and California)
- member of the San Francisco Youth Commission (selective group of 17 young people who advise the Board of Supervisors and Mayor on youth-related issues in the city)
- Co-founder/President of a political discussion group at my school
- writer for my school newspaper
- 300+ service hours (aiming for 1000+ by senior year)
- Co-founder/President of an underclassmen JSA (seniors took over everything, and underclassmen didnt get a chance to do anything)
- soccer coach for 2 years, ref for 1 year, player all my life
- member of Social Justice and Amnesty International
- member of selective service advisory group at my school
- head student costume designer/coordinator for past three school shows

Thats everything so far. I will continue to do all of this and more. I suppose sophomore year is kind of early but better safe than sorry! Thanks everyone!

college wish list: NYU, Boston U., Columbia, Georgetown, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UPenn, Sarah Lawrence, UCSF
(safeties, reaches, matches??)
(it wouldnt let me edit my last post with the same info...so I had to start a new one...)

Wow, I wouldn't really know what to tell you I'm a sophmore too, and my friends think that I'm crazy for even thinking about college yet. Which I'm not

haha mine too! we can laugh at them when we get into good colleges and they dont!
:-P...(yeah totally just kidding...but it is a nice thought)

Lol It kinda is, well whatever man, whatever happens, happens, but don't you get scared over how many damn intelligent people are here. I mean seriously a 4.4 or 4.7 I mean wow I get really creaped out

yeah Some of these people are a bit to Stepford-worthy for me. Makes me a bit nervous but I just tell myself that half of them are lying and the other half have absolutely no life!

Hahaha! Points at sophomore at laughs

Wow, you guys...calm down. You're doing better than most of us juniors and seniors - you're exceptional at extra curriculars. Focus on grades and continue on this track; acceptances will come in. It's sophomore year anyway, come back in 2 years with real test scores and the final GPA, and then CCers will be able to help more.

Good luck, you're on the right path.

bumodebump

bump...bump

bump........bump

dood relax!! geez..i never seen a soph. so worried about college! haha dood.ur upward trend tells college u have matured and put school first. For you..my only advice is to focus on ur grades and SAT and stuff like dat. Ur EC's are AMAZING! Oh also...win sum awards

you know what, i have never heard of the SAT until my 11th grade!!!! and i have no ECs, i am just trying my luck with schools :( (jks, but it's tru i only found out about SATs in 11th grade)

Your ECs are wonderful. You should just keep your grades up, take challenging courses, and pursue your interests right now. If you can become (almost) as enthusiastic about your safeties as the Ivies and Ivy- level schools, then you will be in great shape. Try not to fall in love with just one school yet... there will be plenty of time for that in two years! :)
