Sophomore grades THAT important?

I've been doing okay this year, at least much better than be terrible freshmen year. 88 ave this year compared to an 81 i think. Anyway, are my grades this year nearly as important as junior and senior grades?

not as important, but still quite important.

Large public universities are likely just to look at your gpa and not where it came from. The highly selective colleges and LAC's will see if you have a rising trend in gpa. The soph grades are pretty important. They only look at your grades from 9, 10 and 11. They can also see the first half of senior year after they receive your mid-year senior report. They use this mainly for borderline cases.

Junior, Sophomore, Senior, Freshman (in most cases).

Consistent rising trends may change it to:

Junior, Senior, Sophomore, Freshman
or even
Senior, Junior, Sophomore, Freshman

it all depends on where you're applying. private schools look at all high school grades...including freshman year and 1st semester junior. public universities (such as uc's) use sophomore and junior grades to calculate their own gpa so in this case ya sophomore grades are important. ivy leagues look at everything. i would say that sophomore grades are pretty crucial overall.

Depends on the school.

Still, I think sophomore grades are quite important.

I think the generalizations from hellothere are a bit broad. For one thing, Princeton is "famous" for not using freshman grades at all. It is the ivy for people who slept thru 9th grade. Generally, large public universities won't recalculate your gpa because of the work involved, but the super-elite colleges may recalculate your gpa without including non-academic courses.
