sophomore schedule crisis

PLEASE HELP! :(

I am still waitlisted for 2 of my classes.

I am going to be a sophomore this year.

I figure that if I am going to change my schedule before school starts, I better do it before freshmen register (when is this anyway?)
I REALLY want these 2 waitlisted classes. They fulfill requirements for my major and are extremely interesting to me. I'm #1 on the waitlist for both, but each of these classes has various sections to enroll in (different departments under which you can enroll).

*Class A: I'm 1 on the waitlist out of a 5 person section, for a 15 person class
Class B: I'm 1 on the waitlist out of a 10 person section, for a 30 person class

*for class A, I emailed the teacher a long time ago asking to get in and she said she it's rare that underclassmen get into her class and that she can't let me in until the class opens up. But I was hoping going to her class anyway and asking her in person would be more convincing. Is this a bad idea?

so my QUESTIONS are:
-do you recommend I wait for these classes, or give up?

-if I am still not in them by the time school starts, is this a very very big mess? do i still attend these classes AND the others that are my backups (of which I have none right now because I would like to replace these waitlist classes with classes that fit in the same time slot)

-what classes do you recommended i replace them with? classes that you've enjoyed that are still open maybe? i am an english major, so science classes you recommend? how is DINO BIO? haha.

-is there anything else I can do to try to get into these classes?

-what are the odds of my getting in?

Please help me with at least some of these questions. I'm starting to panic
:( Thanks so much in advance!

You've already been at Duke for a year, calm down. Just wait until add/drop ends and ask your professor for a permission number. Either people will drop the class or the professor will just let you in, especially if you're first on the waitlist

Thanks Mike.
can anyone else give me input as well? please? thanks :)
